Dreadlock Extensions: The Ultimate Guide

We make handmade custom braided hair extensions made from real human hair. You can wash your hair or have it pinned on. Braided hair extensions are handmade with 100% real human hair, so our extensions can be bleached and dyed. We offer a variety of braided hair extensions to suit an individual's hair structure and color. Traditional braids are grown using a special method to make them look practical, lightweight, easy to install, and durable. Our extensions can be added to existing textured braids to resize or pin them in place. So if you are someone who is looking to jumpstart your braiding journey, skipping the initial stages of growing all-natural braids using standard coil tip, faux braid crochet, consider choosing Exyhair dreadlock extensions.

What Are Dreadlock Extensions?

Dreadlock Extension originally refers to a way of braiding hair, a protective hairstyle that tightly weaves African curly hair (the same hair texture as African hair) with your natural hair to achieve a fashionable look. This hairstyle can also protect natural hair and reduce friction with the outside world, retain moisture, and reduce the frequency and time of washing and care. Braided hair can last up to two months.

In order to reasonably save the time of braiding hair and try more colors, it was produced as a hair extension product. Now, dreadlock extensions are very popular and welcomed by people all over the world. They have become a representative of fashion culture.

Different types of dreadlock extensions

Classified by material, there are four types of dreadlock extensions.

Dreadlocks are suitable for any hair type. Whether you have curly, straight or wavy hair, dreadlocks are suitable for you.

Disadvantages of Dreadlocks:

It takes time to install dreadlocks.

Dreadlocks may fall out of your hair.

How To Install Dreadlock Extensions?

Installing these extensions requires care and patience. Let's explore together the steps to a successful installation so you can embrace your unique style with confidence and pride.

Step 1: Prep your hair

Start by washing and blow-drying your hair thoroughly to remove any excess oils that may affect the durability of your braid extensions. Comb your hair thoroughly to remove tangles, and separate it into sections so you can clearly plan where to place your braid extensions.

Step 2: Partitioning

Carefully use a comb to separate your hair into sections of desired size. For a neat and consistent result, it is important to evenly and accurately divide your hair into sections. Click here for a detailed and visual guide on how to section your hair to create dreadlocks.

Step 3: Sectioning the Extensions

Take a lock of hair and gently pull the lock through the loop on the extension. If desired, you can apply a small amount of lock gel to further secure the lock.

Step 4: Braiding

Now it's time to braid the extensions and wig together. Secure the braids with an elastic band, then use the multi-purpose tool to pull the ends of the wig into the wig. This ensures the durability of the braids as the loose ends are secured into the wig.

How do you maintain dreadlock extensions?

Cleaning your extensions is not only essential to remove deposits, but also to prevent tangles. But over-washing can be unsafe as it can dry out your scalp, so take care of your skin wisely and adequately. Dry your hair thoroughly after each wash. Avoid exposing your extensions to warm environments and let them dry in the natural air. To avoid moisture accumulation, make sure your extensions are thoroughly dry before going to bed. Stay away from damp extensions as they will accumulate unnecessary moisture.

Can dreadlock extensions get wet?

Yes, dreadlocks can get wet! You can do anything you normally would, including swimming and bathing. If you swim in a chlorine pool, rinse off the chlorine later.

If you have just gotten your dreadlocks, the solution is a little different. For the first 2 to 4 weeks, avoid getting your hair wet or washing it with any products, as you may loosen some of the hair and negatively affect the cool look of your dreadlocks.

After about a month, you can feel free to wash your dreadlocks as needed. Many people with dreadlocks only wash their hair two to three times a month, as this style doesn't require much maintenance. It's important to use a natural shampoo and pat dry to avoid pulling the hair out of your hair.

Will the hair grow out after the extensions?

If you have a full head of dreadlocks, dreadlock extensions won't grow any more or less. Your hair will continue to grow on your scalp and will blend in with your existing dreadlocks right away, especially if you palm-roll the roots or use a holding product. Otherwise, doing some dreadlock maintenance will keep your loose hair from binding tightly to the dreadlocks. Either way, your dreadlocks will grow longer. Some of our clients find that growth is slower than they would like, so they have us do a second batch of dreads with extensions, especially if they started out with very short dreads. Again, the way you style your hair plays a role. Some people's hair grows very quickly. This can be great if you want length, but it means you'll need to style your hair more often to tame it!

Embrace the beauty of dreadlock extensions

One reason why braids are popular in the world is that they can show your personality. There is no doubt that braids can create too many styles compared to ordinary human hair wigs with average hair quality.

Basically, different braided hair ready to be installed will show different looks and styles, not to mention the various types of human hair braid extensions, such as thick braids, thin braids, soft braid extensions, and colorful braid extensions. You are free to choose the style you want to try and look flawless.

Braided hair extensions are convenient and friendly for beginners. Start with a simple installation method, then express yourself with more styling ways. After installation, no monthly maintenance is required. Effectively save your time while bringing you a stylish expression. Exyhair
